About the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee
The Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee at Stanford School of Law is constituted to ensure a safe, respectful, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The committee works to prevent and address incidents of sexual harassment on campus by creating awareness, promoting respectful conduct, and providing a secure platform for victims to report grievances. It follows a fair, confidential, and time-bound process for inquiry and resolution, ensuring that all complaints are handled with sensitivity and impartiality.
The establishment of this committee is essential to uphold the dignity, safety, and fundamental rights of individuals within the institution. In India, such bodies are mandated under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, which requires all institutions to constitute an Internal Complaints Committee to address sexual harassment complaints. The committee also plays a proactive role by organising awareness programs, workshops, and sensitisation sessions to educate the campus community about acceptable behaviour and legal protections. Through these efforts, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee ensures a secure academic environment and fosters a culture of respect, equality, and accountability.
